About our owner

Our owner Emily has made a career in environmental education and has worked her whole life in service of the health of our planet. She’s educated people about the negative effects of pollution in our waters and created campaigns to encourage people to be sustainable consumers, reduce their waste, and eliminate single-use plastics. She started Sorgente Artisan Soaps with her husband to make a difference by reducing packaging waste in the soap industry.

About our name

Sorgente (sor-gen-te) is an Italian word meaning source, wellspring, or headwaters. In our home in Minnesota, we are at the headwaters of the Mississippi, an iconic river that traces a path south, eventually emptying into the Gulf of Mexico. At Sorgente Artisan Soaps, we are motivated by the power we have to reduce our environmental impact at the headwaters of the waste stream. Everything we do here, at the headwaters, will impact the quality of life downstream. By using our products, we invite you to join us in keeping our environment clean for all those who come after us.
